Ive been suffering from hemorrhoids for over 10 years, never went to see the doctor coz it's quite an embarrasing problem. I've used over-the-counter meds like daflon and proctovegil cream to reduce swelling and pain.
Recently it's started bleeding and, to make the matters worse, my partner and i had attempted (unseccessfully at that) having anal intercourse. The pain and the swelling have become unbearable, so i thought that it was finally the time to see a doctor. I made my research on the net, thouroughly read this site and, being scared of post-op pain and length of recovery time, have made an appointment with the proctologyst who uses argon plasma coagulation (APC) and claims that the procedure is painless, bloodless and takes no time to recover. What concerns me is that according to numerous online sources, the classic hemorrhoidectomy is the only known radical cure to hemorrhoids, with all the post-op pain blood and gore.
Since my op is scheduled in 2 months time, I would really appreciate feedback on this APC procedure, i.e. how true are the claims that it's painless etc., is it effective in treatment of anal fissures and removing sentinel tags etc (esthetic side of the op). Any personal experiences will be very much welcome. |
