Is a liver lesion called hepaticadenoma mortal? As I was told, it is a benign lesion, but which can develop to malign if not cured. How can it be cured?
Calm down, it is not mortal. hepatic adenoma is a benign lesion of the liver that usually affects young women of childbearing age that have been using oral contraceptives. It can regress in case of discontinuation of the taking of contraceptives. The most extensive complication of hepatic adenoma is intratumoral or intraperitoneal hemorrhage, which can hit a little percent of patients. In case that the measuring of the alpha-fetoprotein level proves that hepatic adenoma undergoes malignity transformation; it is recommended that the elective resection is done. The mortality in this case is 1%. BUT, if not cured this way, hepatic adenoma can progress to adenomatosis, which is inoperable.
