Hi i am new to this site but i am worried about my daughter, she has told me she has been haveing sex with her long standing boyfriend she is on the mini pill although only 15, i don't approve of her haveing sex so young, but atleast she went the right way and went to family planing and is on the pill, takes it every day as far as i know, but my worry is she had a late period 2 weeks ago and i was releived but she has now started with bloody brown discharge. She also went to the toilet some time last week and asked if any one had been before her as there was blood in the toilet i did ask what the blood was like she said as if some one had urinated blood out,As she is the only 1 in the family who lives with us that has periods as i had hysterectomy some years ago i now wonder if it was from her. Please help does anyone have this problem the discharge she shown me was in her knickers quite thick,She hasn't had sex i know for sure since last month as her boyfriend lives some miles away in another county. But i need to reasure her its ok THANKS FOR ANY HELP XX

Bleeding/spotting alittle when you first start having intercourse is normal. If she is bleeding that much then the best suggestion I can give is to get her to the doctors for an exam!! She may also be having some break through bleeding as well. Better safe than sorry is my theory! I am glad that you and your daughter are able to talk about the fact that she is having sex, this is good because it shows that she trusts you and that you have some open communication! Good luck.

Brown bloody discharge is usually just older blood that has been exposed to the air for a longer period of time. As long as she has her period she's not pregnant. Also, as the other poster said, breakthrough bleeding can be common when starting a pill, especially a lower dose pill.
