high blood pressure and kidney disease

Hi. I am a 25 years old man, and I have high blood pressure. My father has high blood pressure (it is genetic, as you see), and he has problems with his kidneys. Now I am wondering if there is a connection between the two of those? Is there? I am interested of knowing this for both my and my fathers sake.

Yes, high blood pressure does affect kidney diseases. It can damage them. When you have high blood pressure, you must see a doctor regularly. And also, you must keep your blood pressure well under 130/80. This is a must so your hypertension would cause any more damage (not saying that it already has).
