My ALT and AST enzymes level manifest increasing constantly since three months. Should I consider biopsy as an inevitable solution?

Please don't rush with conclusions! First, the disorder of enzymes does not necessarily point to a liver disease. Joined with AST, there are cases that the ALT enzyme indicates heart damage; but usually, the interpretation of their relation remains dependent of the complete clinical picture. Speaking of liver biopsy, it is recommended only in cases of clinically entirely confirmed cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) and hemochromatosis (overload of the iron serum).
