Hello. I'm 25 year old female and I would like to get some information about HIV and possible treatment.
Don’t get me wrong, I'm not HIV positive and I have no reasons to be worried for my self but these last couple of months I have read a lot about HIV and AIDS and I was just wondering is anyone read anything about this. This got me really interested because I really can't understand how there is still no proper cure for it.
About a week ago I have read some stuff about some HLA B27 vaccine as a possible cure and I was hopping that maybe someone heard something about it.
Please, write me about what you have heard about this.
Hi. I'm a medical student and I will try to explain you some things about this although it is very complicated and I'm not sure how much you will understand.
Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) are the key cells of man’s immune response which are being attacked but HIV virus. The induction of HIV-specific CTL responses remains a central component for vaccine development, and the precise targets of HIV-specific CTL responses have been well characterized over the years.
For some of the restricting HLA genes, including HLA-B57 and B27, an association with slower disease progression has been established. So, this vaccine which should stimulate these HLA genes is still nothing more then a theory because of great variability in the human populations.
