I have medium dark brown hair that is blah. I try to use an over the counter hair color that gives me a lighter brown or dark blond color to lighten me up. Nothing drastic. I have a terrible time after using hair color with my hair wanting to go to a reddish tint.
Are there any products out there that will help keep the "red out?"
Thanks.
I have the same problem with my hair. It has a bad habit of turning a shade of red along with the color I am trying to put into it. I have had good luck avoiding this by using colors which:
1) Are within a 2 or 3 shades of my natural color and,
2) Using colors which have 'ash' in them, like light ash brown and so on.
I also found that leaving the color solution in for a little longer than the recommended time helps as well, maybe an additional 5-10 minutes.
One other thing is that if by any chance you can get your hands on professional coloring products (what is usually used in a salon, as opposed to buying it OTC) then I would say, by all means, use them instead. They tend to be a lot higher quality overall.
I hope that helps a bit!
