There is a connection, called the eustachian tube, between the ear and the back of your throat. It's just above the palate so, behind your nose.

Why?

I think there's a gremlin at work here. Look at the "no open windows" post. Looks like the same thing happened there. The first post appears to be an answer to a mystery post-----
