how logn does it take for a HPT to turn positive?

I'm just wondering, usually how logn does it take for a HPT to turn positive? I've read a lot of threads saying how they took several weeks or even couple of months, instead of the promised few days after you miss your period. So really, how long did it take for YOU or people that you know? I am in a very confusing situatio and i'd appreciate your help; thanks!

Using a sensitive test, some people can get a result a few days before their period is due. Most people will get a result by the time their period is a week late, although a few don't read positive until around two weeks late. VERY RARELY, a hpt won't detect a pregnancy. If you are concerned, a blood test from the doctor is 100% accurate.
