| Hi There, i have also started roaccutane still in the first month of 5. Chapped lips and dry skin on my face are all i have noticed. I'm taking 30 mg then 50 for the remaining 4 months. I to am hoping for clear skin soon, it seems it will get a bit worse before it gets better... |

Im a 26yr old male and just started taking roaccutane (finally) to cure my persistant, although controllable acne. The problem with my acne is medications could be used with varying success so for everyone but me, it often didnt even seem I had a problem, except I couldnt stop using the medication. The drug i stayed on for much longer than I should have, is Bactrim. This little gem meant i NEVER got a pimple. Catch was, if I didnt take one tablet daily, sooner or later they would start coming back and within about 6 weeks, it started becoming a real problem again.
So thankfully im on Roaccutane now which is closer to a cure, not just a temporary fix, cuz I dont want to be on bactrim for the rest of my life!
I wanted to share because Bactrim seems to be an uncommon solution, but for me it worked to clear my problem 100%, streets ahead of any other drug I had taken.
Anyway 15 days into my roaccutane course and after the first week I had the worst sore throat I can remember which meant I was off work for a week and doesnt seem to be clearing. It is likely just a co-incidence ( i hope it is) but its the best explanation I can come up with. My skin is still clear, im sure thanks still to Bactrims effects but i seem to be able to see lots more blackheads. Hopefully they are all visible as their last hurrah before disappearing forever. |

| I've been on accutane for about two months. I too have had pretty bad breakouts throughout. Here's the thing, it takes Patience! If you can withstand the embarrasment of the breakouts, then you can wait it out. I too started to get better within the first week, then all hell broke loose. Im now taking 80 mg a day. if they have to, they'll keep uping the dosage until it works. that's what they do. My skin is still pretty bad but i have tremendous hopes for this. At the end of it all, hopefully it'll be worth it. stay positive ya'll |

|
|
| I was on antibiotics for a year to try to clear up the acne. My face was fine but my shoulders, back and upper arms were problemsome. I started Accutane a month ago (40 mg per day) and am noticing results now. Skin i drier and the acne seems to be drying up. No new acne breakouts in weeks. I do have some soreness in my lower leg bones but other than that and the dry lips I think I am in good shape. |

I'm also taking an antibiotic with accutane to also help with break-outs so that may also be the cause. This is my first week on accutane |
Everyone reacts differently...
I am 28 and have had flawless skin my whole life. 2 years ago I started experiencing adult onset acne. I tried Proactive, Natures cure, clindamycin, Retin A, Dead sea minerals, Tetracycine, and Ortho-trycycline. I have been on Accutane 80 mg daily for 2months 3wekks now. I have noticed a huge difference on my back, the acne seems to be not so ( all over the place, but minimal, yet Red. Sometimes painful. I Use Vasaline for my lips. It is the ONLY thing that works. For the spot Acne treatment I use the Proactive Refining Mask. (this works overnight)
Make sure to get proper sleep. Sleep depravation can result in an acne crisis as well. Drink plenty of water... I can see the results and I'm sure in the next couple if weeks and into the 4th month I will see even better results.
I will not lie. I have experienced some more severe side affects.
#1 Chapped lips
Sensitivity to Florescent lighting, Last night for the first time some hearing problems, constipation, Fatigue, lack of ability to concentrate, short tolerance, and some slight depression, I know this is all associated with the drug, but it's not so serious that I am concerned, but for others if you experience any of these symptoms and your intuition tells you to notify someone. I strongly suggest you do.
EVERYONE reacts differently, and there is a reason they MUST notify everyone of these side affects.
GOOD LUCK to all of you.

| I've been on Isotretinoin 40mg per day (accutane-trade name) for the past 2 weeks now; I have bad breakouts, matter of fact it has increased over this past two weeks. However, this was made known to me while I was prescribed on this drug, also I have noted that the acne dry out soon comparitively. I strongly believe that you have to work closely with your Dr under correct guidence I would think that it would yield a +ve result. I have read lot of side effects and other than dry lips I have currently not had any, and may be that would continue in the long run too..touch wood. |

I have been at uni for two years now, and just finished a 5 month course on Roaccutane. First 2 months 40mg and the latter 3 on 80mg.
Throughout the whole time I have had sore/dry lips as well as dry skin. (Use Vitamin E cream on both lips and face, works a treat)
However, The past 2 months I have had severe groin strain and now lower back pain too! along with slight depression.
I also play semi-professional football and haven't been able to join in pre-season training or play latter games of the season simply because of the back and groin pains, it could be a coincidence but I believe accutane is the cause!
I still have a fair few spots on my face, but the doctor told me that roaccutane stays in the blood system for 6 weeks, so hopefully by that time those remaining spots will be gone!!
I am a 19 year old male. |
