the birth control leaves your system quite quickly. after taking your last pill you can ovulate as soon as two weeks later. there's very little evidence that exposure to the hormones in birth control pills causes birth defects.
Doctors advise you wait until you have had a natural period since coming off Birth control so they can predict the date of
conception, and thus the due date.
However if you wish to wait a little while, you can use a backup form of birth control whilst you wait. Which might give you a little more time for preconception planning
