Hello! I am 32 and my father’s 52. He has just been diagnosed with colon polyps. I hear this condition is hereditary. Because my father has it, I am afraid I might get it too. I was wondering if there was a way to prevent polyps from occurring. Any information is welcome! Thank you
Yes, it is true that you are more prone to polyps now when it let’s say runs in your family. There are certain things you can do although it is not exactly known what causes polyps. You will do much for yourself if you change your dietary habits and include fruits and vegetables in your nutrition, if you cut down on alcohol and avoid smoking (in case you are prone to these things).
Keeping your weight down to normal is also important.
