Hi, I have a situation on my hands that I have never had experienced before. My ten years old son has sunburns. His face and arms are red and he says that his skin hurts. I have always tried to protect him from sun exposure, but yesterday he went to his friend house where they spend several hours playing in the garden. Now I don't know what to do. Do you know how I should treat my son's sunburns?

Hi, I am sorry to hear that your son has to go through this painful experience. When I was younger I suffered from sunburns several time and I remember the pain very well. There are few things that my mother did to help me with my situation. First of all, she applied clothes soaked in cool water on my sunburns. Sometimes, she also used cold milk instead of water. I also remember that she made me drink a lot of water. This is very important because the sunburns cause dehydration. After the pain was gone, my mother would gently apply some kind of moisturizing gel on my skin. It had a cooling effect. After a few days of this treatment I would start to feel better. You should try these tips on your son too. I hope that he will feel better soon enough.
