hurt the area beneath my tongue

My tongue was pushed back the opposite way in my mouth. A medium size bubble that turned purple & red appeared on the skin beneath my tongue. I iced it for awhile and the swelling when down. Now I have a hole there and it's painful and still colored. Should I go to the doctor, or will the hole close up on its own and if so, should I mouthwash frequently?
Please advise. Thank you.
