hyperthyroidism and palpitations

hello folks!! My aunt is 35 yrs old and she has been suffering from hyperthyroidism.She is also taking medication for hypertension. Recently she suffered from palpitations and heaviness in hand. She was admitted in the hospital and ecg reported normal. As she is quite young, are these symptoms quite serious? Is this got anything to do with gastric problems? A million thanks to all those who reply for this post!!

Thyroid disease, whether hyper or hypo, does cause heart palputation.
How do I know? I've been both and have the palputations quite frequent.
Does your aunt drink alot of caffeine? Or sugar?
I have them without the above but I seem to have them much more when I drink caffeine or eat too much sugar.
