i have a sick phobia. am i the only person that does?

i have a really bad sick phobia. i have looked ecerywere and no1 else does! am i alone?

no ur not alone! at points when im under pressure all my focus turns inward and i obsess about my health and start 'what if -ing' what if i have throat cancer, what if i have a heart disease. and when i do this it makes me panic. i think its a control thing. recently some family members have died and i think this makes me want to control something and when i feel i cant even control my own body i get worried. think the best answer is to look outside yourself and focus on other things. hope this helps.

I have it so bad too- any wierd bodily sensation and I am out of control with worry- i hve always had that problem- meds seem to help though.

Hi i have a phobia of sick too. dont worry, its called emeteophobia. infact i had a panic attack today at college because i heard a girl in my class was sick earlier! im only 18 so its not nice, i cant even go out at night with friends because i worry all night that someones going to be sick. its scares me so much and i know adzactly why, my sister has the same phobia but worse. she wouldnt eat when she was young incase she was sick, she become anorexic and i was raised to believe that being sick was a bad and horrible thing. i hate this phobia, but i can assure you now, there are so many more out there the same as you and i so keep smiling.xxx

Hi, i decided to write to let you know that u are not the only person who has this phobia. i know many including myself. Emetophobia is very anoing, especially as i am only 18 and dont go out with friends to clubs in case someone is sick. i miss out a lot. Its hard to deal with. Take today for instance, i had a panic attack at college because i heard a girl in my class was sick and she was sat in the room with me. Ihate it. Something makes you scared though. In my case, my sister has the same phobia. She didnt eat much as a child and became anorexic as she was scared of being sick. this made me think there is nothing worse than being sick and that it is a bad thing to do. It also troubles me as i study childcare and them being sick causes me to have a panick attack so any one who is sick needs to be cared for by someone else. People have said its weird to me, but in my eyes its natural. i cant help it, nor can i control it and at the moment it just seems to be worsening. I just smile though and concentrate on the happier things in life. It makes it a lot easier! keep smiling!xxx

I thought i was the only one! Thank god I know many other people have it too (even though its horrible but you know what i mean!)
I get scared when people make gagging noises, it makes me have really harsh panic attacks. I swear, many people do not understand how serious this is to us, people laugh when im scared or make a joke out of it! I love themeparks but i refuse to go on spinny rides or rides where people are above you as i get worried someone will throw up.
Do any of you people have flashbacks of when they see/hear someone sick?
I have it all the time!
