I'm 17 years old, and for all of the girls that are in that 13-18 year old bracket should not be worrying about vanity pounds. I speak from experience seeing as I dealt with anorexia for 3 years starting at the age of 10. I was never the stereotypical bone-rack while dealing with this disease; however, weight was always something on my mind. The scariest thing in the world was when I was hospitalized. Reading a lot of these entries about trying to drop a lot of weight in a ridiculously small amount of time really disturbs me. The quick fix in NEVER the solution. Not only is it unhealthy, but in most cases you end up gaining the weight back on at a faster pace. Also, if you are too skinny some health risks include infertility (meaning you may not be able to have children when you get older), disease, vitamin and mineral difficiencies, depression, etc.
You need to understand that your body is going through changes, as cliche as that sounds. Your body needs fat to support these changes such as growth in breasts and widening of hips (to bare children when you're older). At age 16 and at the height of 5'3", I went from 110 pounds and a size zero to 135 pounds and a size nine. If you are horrified by that, you shouldn't be. I have a tiny waist, and I'm curvy, so I look fine. Also, NEVER compare yourselves to other girls because they do not have the same body type as you. You have to factor in that you may blossom faster or slower than other girls.
What you SHOULD be trying to do is maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthily and regular exercise will accomplish this. You must know that CARBOHYDRATES AND FATS ARE NOT THE ENEMY. Your body needs carbs and fats for energy and nutritients. It is the type of carbs and fats that make a difference. Make sure you eat whole wheat products (whole grain is not the same). Products, like white bread, are processed so they add preservatives to give the product a longer shelf life. With white bread, the wheat is stripped down of all its natural nutrients, and then it is sprayed with chemicals to give it some nutritional value. With fats, trans fat is the type of fat that should be minimum in your diet. Eat leaner meats, nuts, and lentils to obtain the right types of fat. Do not think that fat free products are good for you. Unless the product is naturally fat free, extra sugars and artificial flavors are added to enhance the taste that the product has that the fat usually gives it. Also drink lots of water: 64 oz. a day. Avoid diet beverages because they do not curb your appetite and do the reverse. This is because the artifical sweeteners suchs as aspratame or Splenda trick your brain into thinking you are eating or drinking somehing with sugar because it tastes sweet. Before your brain has time to realize that it is not sugar, it has already sent the message to your liver to release insulin, which breaks down the sugars. Seeing as the insulin has no sugar to break down, it breaks down glycocin, stored sugar that your body uses for enery. This causes you to become hungrier!!! Also, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. NEVER SKIP MEALS!!! Not eating, slows your metabolism down, which sends your body into starvation mode. Instead of breaking down fat, your body will begin to store more of it because it is keeping your energy level at its optimum. Eating smaller meals more frequently is a good way to keep your metabolism at a productive speed.
I would recommend going first to this site, http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx, which gives you a your Body Mass Index, which compares your weight to a scale based on your age, height, and gender. It tells you what percentile you fall under, and it tells you what is considered to be overweight, healthy, underweight.
Then go to this site, http://mypyramid.gov. It tells you the daily recommendations for a healthy balanced diet. Also you should keep a detailed journal of everything you eat for a couple days. Keep track of the amount you ate and whether the food was fat free, or the type of cheese or grapes or milk, etc. Then use the MyPyramid Tracker to assess your daily diet. From your daily diet, it will tell you if you meet the daily requirements for different parts of the food pyramid, it will tell you what nutrients you are lacking or if you have too much fat, sugar, sodium, etc. in your diet. You can also track your physical activity.
I know this post is very long, but I hope many of you read this and are able to sincerely benefit from it. Remember that you are beautiful no matter what your size, and that confidence, self-respect, and a smile make a girl sexy. |

It totally depends on how religiously you stick to a healthy diet and exercise regime
In my opinion ..10-15 pounds
1. Healthy diet (fruits, veggies, baked meals), water, and salads..try to be on low fat and low carb diet foods
2. Avoid desserts and deep fried stuff. Once in two weeks is ok but AVOID
3. Avoid all junk food i.e. burgers, pizza stuff etc ..No cheese no Cokes
4. walk every day for 40 mins ..be regular
I hope this will help.
dont striclty cut down on your diet ..just bring in a good balance.
Breakfast is very imp so dont skip it. Try to go for 4-5 short meals. It will keep u satisfied..
for example
breakfast: a bread with 1-2 tbsp low fat yoghurt ...sometimes boiled eggs etc
lunch: baked veggies
snack: fruits / salads
dinner: grilled/baked chicken/fish with brown bread or salad as you like
follow on, this kind of routine ..u will feel a good difference..
good luck |

a way to lose weight is to walk but make sure you pick up your feet and raise your thighs high into the air almost like marching. do this for ay least 1 hour to 2hrs. daily but dont push yourself to losing so much weight |

It's been a while since I was 15 but I was about your weight when I was. All the advice above seems pretty good, but after being overweight for a long time one thing made the difference for me, and in a really short time too. Stop using the car. Just don't get in one. Ever. (or at least for 3 months). It means you'll be walking, running or biking everywhere. If you don't own a bike buy one.
I had already lost quite a bit of wait when I started on this. I did it with a friend of mine. She didn't even change her diet or do any other exercise and in three months she lost 40 pounds.
I won't tell you it's easy, but if you can make it past the firsty 2 weeks it's not hard.
The big thing no matter what you do is to keep it up for the whole 3 months. Good luck man, there's plenty of us who've been where you are and lost the weight, and if you really want to you wil too. |
