Hello. I am a woman that has a son who is six years old. He is acting strange sometimes. Whenever we go to a house of my sister who has a daughter, he plays with Barbie dolls. He has few female friends, and none of the male ones. He acts effeminate and that scares me. I think that he has gender identification problems. What ever shall I do?
If that is the case... Than you should take him to see a psychologist. Gender identity disorder is a serious thing. But, when it is spotted early, it can be treated and fixed. But the road is hard. A child must first want to be helped, because he will probably feel that everything is ok. Treatment includes treating of anxiety, depression and rising child's content of his biological gender.
