Doctors usually help patients tapper their doses when trying to quit to avoid the withdrawals. You should talk to a/your doctor about quitting the drug.

take methadone for 5 days to get over the worst and then hold on because you will not slep for 6 months. 30mg first day tapper at 5 mg a day example second day should be 25mg and then when on 5 mg of methadone the worst of the opiod withdrawals will be over. if you want to do uit legally see your doctor or go to rehab that uses chemical rehab to fight the nasty DT's. or lower dose slowly over long period but that seems to never work for me.
I am no one to listen to though I have relapsed 4 times in 20 years for 6 months at a time and do not know why I do it to myself. percocet and oxycontin ws the last. military injury caused pain and doctors filled anything I wanted or some I didn't.
