Lortab, or otherwise known as Vicodine or Hydrocodone is "relatively" safe during pregnancy. If your doctor is aware that you are pregnant, and still prescribes this medication, you should be totally fine. It is mostly a high dose of Tylenol with a little extra to make the more difficult pains ease.
It is considered a Category C medication (which is safer than most non Tylenol products over the counter during pregnancy). This is the definition of Cat C: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Hope this helps, I've been on and off it during my surgery, as well as Darvocet and now a new medication for headaches. I have a high risk OBGYN and I trust her fully especially after everything she's done. |
