indomethacin for renal colic

I had some serious health problems several days ago. I experienced severe pain on the left abdominal side, right above the hip. The pain lasted entire day, and from hour to hour, the situation was only getting worse. I went to the doctor next day and after the kidney ultrasound, I was told that I have stone in a left kidney, so I was scheduled for the operation. I was given indomethacin and the pain subdued almost immediately. Can I use indomethacin for renal colic before the operation, if the pain occurs again?

Indomethacin is a very strong analgesic that works by reducing inflammation. Its main function is decreasing the level of prostaglandins, main mediators in the inflammation process. The good thing is that you will use t only for a short time, because it could have some bad side effects. Especially after the long period of usage. My mother had a lot of problems with her stomach, she has been using this dug for almost 6 months.
