| I think I have an ingrown hair on the side of my leg, kind of near the edge of my pantie line... It has been there for quite some time it is a hard knot sometimes, that feels up with puss, and iam constantly popping, but can not get it to go away... It is like turning a dark color... What can i do, and is it really an ingrown hair? |

Try one of these methods:
- hold a hot compress against ingrown spots for ten minutes three times a day to soften the skin and help the hairs work their way out, or
-There is a product called "Tend Skin" which is supposed to help relieve ingrown hairs also (and razor bumps, etc.). I think you apply 3 times a day and within 24-48 hours, the hair will clear itself from within the skin. From there, you can just pull it out with tweezers. I've never tried it, but you can find it on the web, and in some magazine ads also. Its supposed to be pretty good for these things.
- (NOTE: This method may cause a bit of minor skin damage!) Sterilize a pair of tweezers (the type that are pointed at the tip) with rubbing alcohol and individually lift each ingrown hair out of its follicle. Wipe the area with alcohol. If pointed tweezers are not available, wipe a pin or needle and the ingrown area with rubbing alcohol, then carefully release the hair in the direction that it grows using the tip of the needle only. After the hair is released, wipe the skin with alcohol again to help clean the area and prevent infection.
I would try the the tweezing method last, only if the others fail. But that is just me. Its up to you which method you choose, if any.
Those are the only ways I know of to get rid of an ingrown hair which is causing discomfort for you. There may be other ways, I'm just not familiar with any more of them. Hope this helps.
Good luck. |
