I’d like to hear the most important things about intestial cystitis. What symptoms does it cause? How it can be managed? Is it life threatened disease? Thank you.
Interstitial cystitis is a condition that results in pain in bladder and surrounding pelvic region. It doesn’t have to be severe pain; sometimes only mild discomfort and tenderness are experienced. There is also need for frequent urination that may be urgent. This disease is more common in women. IC doesn’t respond on antibiotic therapy, and no bacterium was found as causative agent. IC is diagnosed by differential diagnosis, because its symptoms are similar to infection of urinary tract. Common pain killers may be used against abdominal discomfort.
