is it irritation or something serious?

Since 2003 I have had sex with 3 guys. I have been with one of them soon to be three years. In May I had an HIV/AIDS test done and it came out negative. I see the gyno every year since I had my baby in 2002. And according to him everything is, "good."

However, I do shave. And sometimes I get small pimple like bumps on my panty-line area. Possibly one or two which they said could be an ingrown hair. Sometimes it could also be a bit hard and painful like a real pimple but a bit bigger. It stays for a while and looks like its starting to go away but it comes back and finally goes away. If I get impatient I try to pop it once I see the head.

I also started to notice around March (2006) that I've been a bit more irritated in the areas where I shave (outer area of lips). It itches once in a while and if I do scratch it, it puffs up and becomes a bit more irritated and uncomfortable against my panty liner. There are a few bumps but not clusters and they're not hard and I don't have any smelly discharge either. At the top of it the skin looks like it was skinned off, as if I nicked myself. It kinda looks like a mosquito bite. When I look at it without touching it, it's kind of whitish-pink. I used to shave every other day or so but I've cut down to at least once a week. It's been about four days since I last shaved.

I hope it isn't serious and that you can help me. I'm on public assitance and its really hard to get a walk in appointment at the local public health. I went to the AIDS clinic for free testing etc. and the counselor wasn't as helpful. I tried to describe to her the things but she was so certain that it was other things rather than an STD like thing. I guess I would've felt better if she had actually seen what I was talking about rather than saying, "it could be this.....it's that...." please help me!!!

I've been thru the same thing and I found out that it is either an ingrown hair or it could be hormones,does it seem to come around the time you are about to get your period?Mine do, but not all the time.Sometimes it comes after sex if my husband isn't completely on point and also from your panties if they are tight and you sweat alot down there.
