| I just got my tonsils out 4 days ago, and the mornings are the worst for me. I really would rather go through giving birth... I am drinking as much water as i can, but swalloowing is a nightmare. Everyone was talking about liquid vicodin, i got oxycodone. pill form, and i have to make my husband look down my throat to make sure i swallowed them, funny huh? How much longer do I have until the pain is over? |

|
|
| I agree! I am 33 years old and on day 6 after the removal of my tonsils. After chronic Tonsilitis and throat infections, I finaly sought a doctor to remove my tonsils. I'm starting to wonder if this is worth it. I said to my husband that I would rather go through natural child birth again than to have had this procedure. The day of my surgery seemed forever. Once given the seditive I only remember waking up with the most horrible pain I have ever felt. My throat was on fire, and more sore than I have ever known. My tongue was and is still hurting. I have not been able to take anything other than liquid tylenol due to being very sensitive to Codeine. Needless to say the regular Tylenol does not work very well and also upsets your stomach after a while. I was not able to eat and could barely drink for three days. Chicken broth on day 4. Yesterday, day 5, I finally had some chicken broth with noodles that took me forever to swallow. I thought I was going to die! Today is better, although I still cannot sleep because of waking up choking on mucus that drains down my throat, and drying out. I can however speak for short periods of time. My ears do hurt today, and I did look in my throat, which looks awful. The right side looks as if I still have a partial tonsil (I hope this is not possible) with a large hole which food gets trapped in and it is very painful. I have noticed that I have black spots where my tonsils used to be on one side, which I am having looked at tomorrow. I am also returning to work, which I hope I do not regret. I do recommend Cloraseptic throat spray. It helps almost immediatly. I knew the surgery would be bad, but never did I imagine this! Good luck to any adult having this surgery. |

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is bored.... and preferably only women respond to that, becasue its not like that, i just want to talk to somebody who's going through the same thing. |

I am on day 9 and just really glad to have some post-op 'friends' who are feeling the same as me. I thought I would have been over this by now!
My meds have nearly run out and it is my birthday tomorrow!

| My husband is 35, we are 1 week into recovery after having his tonsils out......rather waiting for recovery. This has been the worst week of his life. Day 1 wasn't too bad, 2 was worse and he's been going down hill since day 3. Can't sleep, the burning in his throat will not stop, and his ears hurt. His Dr. gave him something to help him sleep...that was a nightmare, apparently Ambien releases his inner deamon...If he doesn't take anything to help him sleep, he can only stay asleep for 30min. because his spit is so thick, he feels like he's choking. The pain medication does work, but in 4 hours it starts all over again. This is NOT fun! |

My tonsils were removed monday the 24 ... and this is just irritating. NOTHING feels good and I am on my 6th day of recovery and well the pain medication doesn't work cuz i just went to get a refill again to day it is Liquid Hydrocodone and the pharmacist informed me that I am taking to much. the tylenol in the hydrocodone is giving me a stomach ache and it just sucks. so i need to call my doctor monday and tell him my ears are burning and the pain is killing me. I can't sleep and when i do i wake up with a dry throat and sore cuz my meds have wore off.. so if anyone wants to talk I am here and this is what i am going through.

| Hey i feel your pain, im on day four and im on Liquid Hydrocodone, and almost out. The medicine only helps for about 3 to 4 hours. My jaws hurt me so much, my ears hasn't really hurt to much, I also had an adeniodectomy too. So I am expecting them to hurt too. My throat burns more everyday, I don't know what can help. |

|
|
| Hi Guys! I'am just tired of my tonsils! I have these disgusting tonsil stones and big holes in them , it's gross. My tonsils get big very very often and they hurt and i can't swallow anything, and a fever always comes with it. I just don't know what to do! Ok, I'll see a doctor and she's going to prescribe me an antibiotic, but it helps only for a while. I don't see any other option besides removing them! But when I read your posts I really get confused because it seems worse. I think that it's better to suffer for a few days like you guys than have a bad breath(because of the tonsil stones)for the rest of my life and a sore throat every other week! Please help me! Give me some advice because i don't know what to do! By the way , could u tell me how much u paid for that surgery? |

| Im on my 8th day after getting them out I am 15. Everyone warned me about how painful this would be but its really not bad at all. Im not sure if im jsut not bad with pain but its not like ive had any sutrgerys before. The first two days i took codein but after that I have only needed tylonal so i can eat some food without it hurting so much. This surgerys really not that painful by the third day I was already having sleepovers with my friends and going out. The most painful thing about this would probably be that it makes your ears hurt really badly, but you can put a hot towel on them to feel better. |
