my father was Dx with hairy cell leukemia about 5 yrs ago.....he went through three cycles of chemo as an in-pt ,each cycle lasted 7 days and he was infused 24 hours a day for those 7 days......since the last infusion approx. 3 1/2 yrs ago he has his blood tested every 6 mths and ONCE per year a bone marrow Bx all have had an undetectable status result....about 4 weeks ago he called me c/o pain in the right upper lobe of his lung/chest area.....he went to the ENT and was prescribed Avelox x10 days PO as well as Advir steroid INH.....he has since finished the ANtiBx and stopped using the steroid INH...... was fine w/no C/o these symptoms for the past 12-14 days and called me today c/o of the pain in the upper right chest.lung area again, worse when he takes a deep breath.......he called the ENT office and they directed him back to his ONCOLOGIST stating if the Avelox didn't help maybe it was something else.....NOW when he originally went to the ENT they took a chest x-ray and stated it showed NO pneumonia or obstruction (ie. PE).......he is so worried about the leukemia relapse....I told hin to call an urgent request for office visit to the ONC but wonder if the pain he is experiencing is directly related to the leukemia. Hope you have an answer to my questions, or a direction to send me to locate the answer. He also lives very close to SHands in Gainesville ,FL Thanks Lacie Clement
