Hi all. I’ve been taking zoloft for almost 6 months now. But, during that time I gained almost 30 pounds - I think it was due to medication. Anyway, I was wondering if zoloft has an effect on metabolism and the ability to lose weight as now I will try to use some other meds for that purpose. Please reply. Thank you.

Well, I had similar problems, but not with zoloft but with lexapro which I had been taking for depression. I gained some 20 pounds in just one month. What is even worse, It's been over a two months since I stopped taking it but I couldn’t lose a single pound!! I am eating good, exercising (both cardio and weights) and even taking Xenadrine but nothing helps. So, I do believe that the SSRI's have an impact on metabolism. The worst part of this is I didn't need to be on Lexapro in the first place.
