hi all,
i was playing a casual game of soccer a week ago and guess what? yep. a girl who has never even had a cavity and doesn't think much of western medicine is going for surgery for lisfranc. i know i must be in denial but maybe you could help me out. it's been a week. i can't walk but it doesn't hurt. and it feels like it is getting stronger. i understand that the bones need to be aligned to heal and the 'why' of surgery. but it seems so strange to put myself through the hell i have been reading about when it just doesn't seem that bad now. i am althleic and healthy and i just can't wrap my brain about what the next 3-6 months has in store for me. it seems so anti-instinctual.
i also wanted to ask if anyone has been getting acupuncture to help treat post surgery.

Hi Hopi.I had my Lisfranc surgery on 6/18/2007.My motorcycle fell onto my foot.OUCH!!!! Anyway, im no expert but from what I have read, it seems surgery is the only option. My foot was pretty bad though so I guess it can be different for everyone.Make the decision that is best for you.At this point I can honestly say I dont regret having the surgery.BUT, being non weight bearing for 9 weeks is driving me beyond insanity!!!!

Hi Hopi,

Dont let yourself get too down now. Everyone has a different story. I broke my foot REALLY BAD in March, and I JUST finished with my healing process and start physical therapy. NOW keep in mind, your appear to be physically active and healthy... from your posts, so dont get yourself too down. You must be pretty young. Your body is going to heal well and in the time it is appointed to. I had 11 screws, a plate, a bone graft and a gastroc recession. Be patient, I KNOW IT IS HARD.

I broke my foot when my husband was in Iraq, so they had to send a red cross message to get him home. They got him home about a month after it was broken. Things will go well. Keep your head up and your chin up, ok? The Lord is in control. Also, I have other posts here on my "journey" in the Lisfrance healing process story. There are MANY others to share your time and frustrations with. Many Blessings,

Hizgrace
