Hi. I am a 43 year old guy and I got some lacerations on my arm due to the anesthetic I got before the operation. It appears that I am allergic to lidocaine. I don't think this is that serious, but it's better to know what I am allergic to than to not now. Any opinions on this subject?
You are right. It isn't a complicated procedure, and it is done regularly. It is done by administering a dilute solution of the drug which allergic reaction is concentrated on. 1/1000 solution to be exact. If you are not sure which drug are you allergic, than you repeat it a couple of times, each time with a different drug. But as I said, it's not really a dangerous procedure.
