the same thing has happen to me, i've just come back from the dr actually who told me he isn't going to give me the shot anymore.
i was a very thin 45kgs before i started taking the shot and after only 2 injections am now 64kg at only 160cm. another symptom i had was constant periods, not very heavy, but always there.
he's advised me to see a gynecologist before going back on the pill, but has prescribed me a pill called Microgynon to help with the weight loss. he told me that i may never loss the weight because it's a hormanal thing, and now it's in me forever!! i almost bust into tears on the spot. |

| Im so happy to hear that others have similiar experiences on and off this terrible drug. I also am one of the "few" who never experience weight gain while taking the shot but have gained 15lbs since going OFF of the shot.. I have been struggling for the past year to get this weight off and it is very frustrating. My doctor also has told me my weight gain has nothing to do with the depo shot side affects... but i have changed nothing in my healthy diet and excercise plan. I am a weight Health Consultant and know that there is a reason for weight gain... Depo is one of them.. dont let your doctor tell you different just be very cautious of your daily diet to at least keep the weight gain to a minimal. |

I was on Depo for just over a year and gained 45lbs in that time. I have been off of it for over 2 years now and it is almost impossible for me to lose the weight. I was never this heavy - or even close - ever in my life. I firmly believe that the Depo is the reason!!! my doctor will not take me seriously and doesn't believe me. I am regularly going to the gym and eating well but nothing helps. I wish I had never taken it.
my advice - do not go on this drug!!!!!!!!
if anyone has any weight loss success after a similar situation, please post. thanx. |

i had the injection yesterday and wasn't once told about weight gain or any side effects. i read a few of them in a leaflet before going in to see the doctor. i didn't worry too much, how common is it to put on weight? i am very worried about putting the weight on. it's the last thing i want.
i am only 16 and the doctor said to try this instead of the pill again. i then read that bone weakness can also be caused by the jab, and is dangerous for teens to have it. can somone please give me some more information, as i really am worried.
thankyou. |

| after my first child was born I was 19 and weighed 110lbs, I got the first shot of Depo and gained 20lbs in a month. I never got another shot. About 8 months later I got on the pill and gained 40lbs in 3 weeks I didn't finish my first pack of pills. That was in 2001, in January of 2006 I tried an IUD Mireana and I gained 20lbs and bled for 6weeks, I had it removed and the bleeding stopped. In all I've gained 80lbs from birth control and have never been able to loose the weight. I'm now 26 and I weigh 190 lbs. I've dieted, exercised and all I do is retain water in excessive amounts and get fatter. Nothing I've tried has worked to lose weight. I'm thinking I might have to have surgery. |

| I have been on the Depo shot for a little over four years, and no matter what I do, I cannot loose any of the weight that I have gained (a total of about 35 lbs.). I started the shot about two months after our daughter was born; a month after giving birth, I was in a size 14...a month after starting Depo, I was in a size 22. Eating right, exercising, NOTHING helped in loosing weight. I have now been off Depo for about 5 months, and people have starting mentioning that I look like I've lost some weight- but I've also been helping in Housekeeping at work too (mega-activity). I'm SO ready to be back to my pre/post baby size, it's insane. And sex drive. What's that? |

I was first given depo at 17. Within 6-9 months I gained 80 lbs. I than plateaud but was never able to take the weight off. I received the depo again at 22. I gained 50 within 4-6 months. I was pregnant a third time, this time I was so sick during my pregnancy that I actually lost 25 lbs. After I had her, I started walking a mile -three miles a day. at four weeks I got on a scale, and I was still the same as my weight loss. two weeks later I had gained twenty pounds and I was still walking 1-3 miles a day. I beleive the depo has done something to my body. I want an inquisition into it and a class action law suite. for 8 years (off and on) I was on depo. I want to know why I was never taken off of it when I gained fifty pounds in a few months.....I'm mad and I want everyone else whose lives were ruined by excessive weight gain on the depo shot to come together. If enough of us speak up, we can get some resolution. If anyone wants to contact me my email addy is katieelle2003@yahoo.com. If we all had thse problems while on depo...there are medical records to back up our claims. lets organize and get this drug of the market.

hey hun,
my name is debra and im really really FAT!! i had three shots of depo in 1995, i started to put on some weight so i stopped ......then i put on a hell of alot of weight. before i started depo i was 24 and a mum of a 4yr old and a 1yr old, i also weighed in at a natural 8 stone... ( my nickname had always been twiggy!). i am now 38, had a baby 18mths ago and weigh in at 15 and a half stone, i got to this weight by the end of 1996, and i have fluctuated up and down a stone, but ive never got to lose it.....am now considering paying for cosmetic surgery....im happy and confident in myself as a human being, but im just so miserable that i dont have the energy to do what i want, i cant find decent clothing, ( just cos im big doesnt mean my armholes need to be a foot wide!).....ive spoken to my doctors over the years, but i just get told eat healthier do exercise......why are they still using this stuff....also there is osteoporosis in my family, i shouldnt have been given depo to begin with.
im in the uk so idont know if im of any use ....but hey what the hell, im up for a bit of annoying!!!
