Lately I have one really annoying problem. My lower eyelid started to twitch often. This is something that really going on my nerves, but also scared me a little too. I don’t understand why this happens to me. Also I don’t know what it means, so I would be thankful for any info.

Eyelid twitch is one of the most common types of eyelid spasms. Eyelid twitch is caused by something we still don’t know for sure. Slight spasm of the lower, or even both eyelids is common, and of no concern. Symptoms are twitching or spasm around the eyes, or facial spasms. These symptoms may not necessary mean that you have eyelid spasms. The best would be if you consult your doctor to confirm any diagnosis, whether is good or bad. Treatment for your lower eyelid twitching requires no treatment, as they usually resolve spontaneously. You should reduce stress if there is any, because sometimes it can be provoked by it. Try use warm soaks, or correction of any refractive error also may help. Some ophthalmologists recommend reducing caffeine usage.

| This is very common in my cause and a few other people I know. One might called it superstitious, but try to observe that, it could be an alert for something good news or bad news. In my wifes and mine case, the left eye is bad news and the right is good new. Observe. |

Posted: 12/20/07 - 12:21 Post subject: The healing experience of my eyelid-twitching sickness |
|
|
Good day, I have read about the stories of many people having troubled by the eye sickness of eyelid-twitchings and hence I would like to share my own personal experience to you over the course of my treatment for this sickness, and it is only meant as a reference material to your website. For your information, I have been suffering from exactly the same type of sickness like these people in the past few years whereby my eyelids also tend to twitch both continuously and uncontrollably without me being able to do anything to control the twitchings at all. As a result, my eyes would seem like blinking all the while to anyone who looks at me and I totally could not drive, look directly and persistently at the pc or tv screens and most of the times, I simply can’t read any books or newspaper properly. And I have sought lots of medical treatments and apply various kinds of eye drops and even have the MRI examinations taken to get my eyes cured , but these efforts turn out to be in vain as they fail to yield any positive results. Luckily, just about a year after I suffer from such a sickness, I come across an accupuncture expert who studied and observed closely about my problems and then administer a therapy needle on the part of the flesh which is about 1.5 cm above the middle part between my thumb and my forefinger of my right hand. After that, he just ask me to press (using just mild force) that accupuncture point using such objects like toothpick /normal writing pen or anything with a blunt-pointed end for at least 2 hours a day and then consistently for about 2 months. Having done that persistently based on his order, my eyelid-twitching that makes my eyes blinking all the time just totally recover and I can drive, work with the pc screens, watch tv, movies and read as well as work like any other normal persons.
For your further information, I have also come across quite a couple of people in my real life annoyed by such an eyelid-twitching problem of different causes and degrees of severity, and accordingly, I just recommend the method as mentioned above to them and within weeks, they just experience significant improvements to their conditions after applying this theraphy, and after a few months , they just recover totally from this sickness. As a matter of fact, I actually intend to put an illustration of that part of the hand (the one between the thumb and the forefinger of the right hand) to demontrate that accupuncture point to you more clearly, but this cannot be done due to limitations of this website. However, shall you have any further enquiries about the method I recommend above, you are welcome to address it to mary_perkins81@yahoo.com and I’ll try my best to help you.
Lastly, I sincerely wish that the ones troubled by such an annoying eyelid-twitching sickness can recover finally from their illness. |

In response to eow_c
I have developed an lower eyelid twitch on my left side that has been lasting over 5 days now. It comes and goes for about 20 sec and about 3 times an hour. Trying to figure you why I had developed it I started drink lots of fluids and getting an extra 2 hours of sleep a day. None of that seems to help. Just yesterday I had realized that I stabbed myself with a knife the before my eye twitches. It was a deep stab and it hit bone, but the location is exactly where you (eow_c) has pointed out "which is about 1.5 cm above the middle part between my thumb and my forefinger." I am greatful that you wrote this story, Just hope that my twitches will go away as my wound cures. |

Acupuncture never has been done with stabbing with a knife. What I recommend in the website for this eyelid twitching sickness is pressing using just mild force on the very surface of that acupuncture point for a suggested 2 hours and persistently for 2 months. And there are definitely a great deal of differences between the needle-based acupuncture and even the clinical injection with a syringe in the sense that it is much less annoying and almost painless, let alone harmful.
If you are really telling the truth and your eyelid is really twitching badly, then the method I recommend in the website would at least alleviate your sickness like what other people with the similar problem have responded positively to me through the email sent to me.
Please do not try to create fictitious stories over the net to undermine the credibility of my suggested therapy. Thank you. |

|
|
And about the causes of eyelid twitching, there can be a variety of them.
During the distant past era of our grandparents, we would rarely hear about such complaints, but what cause such tremendous changes ?
Well, many of the modern medications nowadays do have the potential to cause disturbances to the normal functioning of the dopamine receptors of our nervous system resulting in various movement and neuromuscular disorders and could that be the underlying cause ? |
