During the past few months I have discovered that when I swallow a lump protrudes from my neck. It is not painful but it does cause pressure and the neck is getting increasingly swollen, I can't stand having anything touch my neck. I just feel worn out. Thyroid goiters were ruled out and nothing was found during ultra sound and during a barium swallow.

Have you been under a lot of stress for the last couple of months since the lump appeared?
Lump in throats are connected to stress but little doctors tell that story!
I also had problems with a lump that was present for a little more than a month. It would be apparent later during the day, or in the evening but would be gone when I wake up in the morning. I had no problems swallowing and actually eating seemed to make it less uncomfortable. Three weeks after bugging me, I became paranoid to the point I started having sore throat and problems breathing. I went to see a GP, she looked at my throat and said there’s nothing and gave me antibiotics but the lump persisted. I went again and my GP sent me to an ENT-nothing wrong with throat but said my tonsils were dead, which had nothing to do with the lump but she did tell me that lumps in throat appear due to stress. I was stressed at the time being.
I googled it and found exactly what was bothering me. It is called globus hystericus and is caused by contracting muscles in the throat when we are under prolonged stress.
As soon as I became conscious about it, it went away!
