Hello. I'm 24 year old male and my question could be stupid but I would really like to know more about male yeast infections. I really don’t know are they even possible with men but recently my girlfriend told me she has developed some vaginal yeast infection called candidiasis and that made me thinking more about it. Although I have never heard about it- I don’t know can it be transmitted via sexual contact? She has this infection for a month now and we have had an intercourse several times in that period.
How should I recognize the symptoms and how these yeast infections are being treated?

Well, I'm very sorry to say but the answer to your question is YES- It's possible to transmit a yeast infection by sexual contact. It can be done on both ways -from a woman to a man and from a man to a woman.
This is very common infection in women because when a woman's system is out of balance, yeast-like organisms can grow and cause a thick, white discharge.
Don’t be afraid- male candidiasis symptoms are lot less serious.
Males may develop genital irritation and itching, especially if they are uncircumcised, but usually there is no discharge, what so ever. Yeast infection can be easily treated with antifungal creams or ointments.

Yes, male yeast infections can happen. The fungus needs a moist, warm place to survive and feeds off of your body sugar level or something like that. Unfortunately I right now am having this again in my inner thighs. The Doc told me in males it will occur in the body folds such as inner thighs, the anus, the mouth (thrush). I don't know how I got it last August, my wife didn't have it, but supposedly when she was put on some antibiotics, they told her that tis could lead to yeast infection. We still wonder if thats how I got it...from her. But it went away with treatment. It was bad too, very red, very itchy, even painful. i didn't know and was wearing tighty whities and spraying an anti-itch cream on it. I was helping it get worse. The doc told me to wear boxers, put on Nystatin steroidal cream, and use baby powder, twice a day. it went away after a few weeks. But now a year later, it is coming back, though this time I am prepared. I don't know why it is back.
