Hello. I'm 17 year old female and I started to suffer from some strange symptoms. First, I would like to point out that I'm not sexually active. About three months ago I have suffered from some serous symptoms such as burning while urinating and painful menstruation. My mother took me to see a doctor and he diagnosed me with some urinary tract infections.
I have used some antibiotics and situation calmed down. Now, I'm feeling the same symptoms but I've noticed that they occur mostly after masturbation. I don’t know are these two things related but if they are- what are you suggesting for me to do!?

Hi. Your post is very interesting and it definitely made me thinking about it. When thinking logically- if you are putting anything inside and around your vagina when you masturbate, this could definitely cause urinary tract infection (UTI).
Beside clitoris, you probably know that you're touching also a urethra and if your hands or your vagina completely clean- there is great risk of developing UTI. What you can do in future to avoid this from happening. Try to avoid excessive rubbing around the urethral opening, to prevent irritation in that area and keep your genitals and your hands clean. That’s should do! One more thing- try to urinate before and after sexual activity to flush bacteria out of the urethra.

Can clitoral irritation cause a feeling of urinary urgency/frequency? I do not have a UTI or pain in the abdomen but do have urinary urgency/frequency symptoms. I have been put on antibiotics, detrol LA and nothing works except applying direct firm pressure to my clitoral area or a hot bath. I do have a yeast infection from the long regimen of antibiotics. HELP!!

Advice to anyone on antibiotics...

EAT YOGURT! it stops you from getting a yeast infection. My mom use to be a nurse and she taught me this little trick

i think i have a urinary tract infection. i've never had one before and my rate of masturbation has been pretty steady for the last 8 years.

i just wanted to say that i am experiencing the same problem. i have been masterbating for a few months now a long while, i stopped for a few weeks and i feel much better,
ive realised when i do masterbate i get a uti and urgency, i have suffered with uti since i was a kid, but i was wondering no matter how clean you are or how clean your genital area is, there is always a risk of uti all the time.

i think you must have breaks of periods from masterbating. antibiotics are not always great, they had side affects, as well as curing the uti having it on and off its not a great idea.

i just wish there were other ideas or cures from a uti but unfortunately not,

just drink plenty of water, cranberry juice is great.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm a 38-year old female, and I've had two instances of UTI because of masturbating. I don't use fingers, and I've always used the medium flow of running water so that I'm always clean, but the UTI pops out gradually, and after taking Macrodantin capsules (a UTI antibiotic) and drinking lots of fresh coconut juice to reduce possible kidney stones (which I didn't have), the UTI's fade away. But constant masturbation makes the UTI's surface again. So I've had to make my masturbation episodes spaced at least two weeks before the next one.
