I have been on Xanax (alprazolam) for about 3 months and my dose was 2 mg. per day. I decided to quit and I fell like I am dieing. It has been 4 days now and I don’t feel any better. I have all common symptoms. I haven’t slept more than 10 hours in the last 4 days. I am wondering if I should go back on a lower dose and try to wean myself. How much or should I stick it out, if I do that? My doctor does not know I have been taking it and it is very hard to hide my symptoms. I need a medical care.
From my own experience, I have to say that Xanax (alprazolam) is not a drug to ever go cold turkey with. The best resource I can advise is going to the Web site and it will tell you all you need to know regarding Xanax and other related benzos. I am not denying my addiction to Xanax (alprazolam), but I certainly feel that they help me in my daily living. Since being on them for over 14 years have never exceeded 3.5 mg a day, with my usual always being 2.5 mg a day. So after all these years of taking them guess I am lucky I have never increased the dose. I guess it is needless to say I would rather be med free and not have to rely on a med everyday. I am fine with Xanax and feel that it is okay to take if it controls your symptoms and you don't abuse them, then it is okay. Anyway, if you need medical care you should seek for one.
