Hello! I am gradually getting into a menopause and I have already noticed slight weight gain. I have never paid too much attention to my eating habits as I was thin all my life. Now, my thighs and stomach are getting bigger and bigger, and the situation concerns me. Is it ok to use diuretics and laxatives during menopause so that I can get rid of these extra ponds I gained?

Hello! I don’t think you should be thinking about laxatives and diuretics. They have a jo-jo effect, you lose water and it may seem as if you lost some weight but once you got the water back into the body, the weight comes back as well. What you should think about is changing your eating habits. I suppose this would be a good moment to start thinking that direction. A healthy diet can not only reduce the symptoms of menopause, but can also lead to a healthier lifestyle and increased energy levels. It would be best if you talked to your GP in order to get some advise on proper nutrition.

weight gains is almost always caused by a combination of the Poor diet(high in calories and simple carbohydrates) and inactivity. Side deffects of pharmaceutical medications, Hormone imbalance also the factors taking into account.

Your best bet for health and weight loss is to focus on eating foods that fresh, whole, and nutritionally dense. Make sure you get enough protein every day. Otherwise, you’ll feel deprived and downright hungry. Whole, complex carbohydrate, like brown rice, whole-grain bread, and oats are necessary for a healthful eating plan. They’re also high in fiber, which helps you feel full and keeps you free of toxins. Essential fatty acids are good for you, use EFAs in moderation. Eat food that are high in tryptophan-turkey, chicken, tuna, soymilk and live unsweetened yogurt. This chemical encourages the production of serotonin and may stave off cravings. Vegetable juice is healthful and filling. Water also takes the edge off your hunger. Eat a balanced ratio of the major food groups. Eat more small, regular meals. Do not skip meals, particularly breakfast.
If you’re trying to lose weight, you first priority should be to reduce or, better to eliminate refined sugar from your diet. Avoid processed and junk food. Refined flours are leaving you with nothing but a plate full of calories. You must radically cut back on your consumption of “bad” fats.

If possible, get regular moderate exercise. Walking and similar activies are good. Moderate exercise helps in the assimilation of nutrients and in increasing the appetite. Avoid strenuous exercise

Excess body weight is implicated as a risk factor for many different disorders, including heart disease, diabetes, several cancers (such as breast cancer in postmenopausal women, and cancers of the uterus, colon, and kidney), prostate enlargement (BPH), female infertility, uterine fibroids, and gallstones, as well as several disorders of pregnancy, including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and gestational hypertension. The location of excess body fat may affect the amount of health risk associated with overweight. Increased abdominal fat, which can be estimated by waist size, may be especially hazardous to long-term health.

Dr Balch's nutritional team has created a formula designed to work alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise. Components have been added to promote fat burning processes. Protection and supplemental nutrition is provided with botanicals and a complete multivitamin complex. The amino acid L-Carnitine may be helpful for weight loss because of its role in fat metabolism. Studies have shown that Conjugated Linoleic Acid reduces the percentage of body fat in exercising people although other studies have shown no effects. Cayenne increases blood circulation and promotes secretion. Supplementation with Calcium aids weight loss in overweight people consuming a low-calorie diet in 3 to 6 months. Green Tea Extract may support a weight-loss program by increasing energy expenditure or by inhibiting the digestion of fat in the intestine. A Complete Multivitamin Mix provides basic support to the body with most essential nutrients even when you are on a very low calorie diet. L-Glutamine promotes the synthesis of glutathione, an important antioxidant in the body which protects the body during the weight loss process.
