menstrual cycle still not normal.

Every sence I had my son I have yet to go back to normal. He is now 18months old. A normal menstrual cycle for me is about 4 days with maybe a day of spotting. After I had my son that all changed. I have yet to have a normal cycle. As of right now my cycle has lasted 6days and 8 days of spotting and its not just the brown its red too. I am only 23 so I didn't think your body would change that much. I am not on any birth control or had sexual intercorse with my husband recently. So I dont think it could be an effection. I had spoke with my mother about the issue and she said something about because I had a c-section they might not of cleaned everything out so that could be why my body is still not normal. So I guess my question is, has anyone had this problem or know what it is?
