| I just started taking meridia 10 ml. It hasn't done anything but make my itchy and very very drowsy ALL DAY LONG!! Does anyone have their experience to share??? Pril |

Hi! No wonder you are experiencing side effects because Meridia is anti-obese drug but it works just like an anti- depressants. It is an anti-depressant because it influences neurotransmitters in the brain serotonin and norepinephrine, raising their levels, so that you could feel full for longer periods of time, reducing your appetite.
How many pounds do you need to lose? Have you been given a dieting program as well. Have you started exercising/walking/moving….anything? By prescribing Meridia, doctors should make sure you follow a dietary plan. This way, success is guaranteed.
Just like any other anti-depressant drug, as well as anti-obesity drug, Meridia is susceptible to side effects. Many of them are tolerable and may go away after the body adjusts to the drug.
The most troubling side effects could be high blood pressure, increase in heart rate, and abnormal heart rhythms. Other include dry mouth, headache, constipation, and insomnia, etc
How long have you been on the drug? If the side effects are influencing your daily activities and preventing you from normal functioning, you should definitely report this to the doc who prescribed the drug to you. |

I have taken Meridia in the past (for about a year) I started at 10 ml, then up to 15ml, however, your dosing may be off because when I went up to 15ml I experienced some similar symptoms, you should ask your Dr. about starting at 5ml. I am also taking Meridia again now, and I need 15 ml for it to be effective. I hope this helps you. |
