My daughter is 15 and has headaches for over two years, they have slowly been getting worse. Her pediatrician states she has migraines. We have done eye exams, allergy testing, mri's. She does wear contacts and glasses. The pediatrician prescribed amatriptalene (sp) and when I told him it was not helping he increased the dose, this also did not help. We have tried excedrin migraine and bc powder. Her doctor will not give her any other medications like imitrex etc.......I need help!!!!!!!!

Hey darlin,
I had migraines from the age of 13, i was given a range of medication from the age of 15 to combat it. There is a pain reliever called Paramax, which is specifically designed to combats migraines. My migraines are pretty bad, i collapsed in the shower with them. Paramax helped me alot, you can buy it in all good pharmacists.
At her age has the doctor checked out whether the migraines are period related?! If the doctor has'nt i would make a period vs migraine diary, basically noting when her periods are to when her migraines are. It might be a good idea to document the pain while your there.
I may add that I have been on four different migraine tablets to prevent migraines, and none of them worked for me. Yet, the symptoms I have are typical for migraines. So I guess some tablets work for some people and not for others, it is important to remember that most medications that are given are to prevent migraines, not take them away.

This said, I must flee ( its 01:34am here in the UK)
all my love,
keekee
