miscarriage 2 months ago started period finally lasted only 2 days why??

I had a miscarriage on 8/25/07 Had the D&C done that evening due to very heavy bleeding. I finally started my period on 10/27/07 but it barly lasted 2 days. When I found out I was pregnant last time I also had bleeding for 2 days. I took a hpt about a week before i started and it was neg I dont know what to do or what is wrong my periods are normally 8-10 days, Did I take the test to soon? Or is this normal?? Please help Thanks
