I am great fan of mountain biking for several years. Few days ago while I was riding with my friend we were talking about our bikes and came up to conclusion that we know very little about our bikes and their history. In deed no one of our friends, who are passionate bikers, didn't know much more about it. I would like to something more about it as it is part of my every day's life.

Hi, I am also passionate biker and few years ago I decide to read something about mountain bikes history and trends. Although these bikes are relatively new, idea lasts for more than 30 years. Mountain-biking started to evolve in the mid-late 1970s. At the time, there was no such thing as a mountain bike. They were called Klunkers.
The first mass-produced mountain bikes were produced in 1983. These bicycles were made with 15 gears. Today we have bikes made with 21, 24 or 27 speeds. In the front part there are 3 speeds and on the back wheel there are 7, 8 or 9 speeds.
Soon there will be construct mountain bike with 30 gears and more.
For hardest terrains are used larger but not heavier frames which provides stability but also better handling.
