My friend is desperate so I am trying to help her in any way I can. Her 17-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with myopathy and it seems that her condition cannot be stopped, only slowed down. They are waiting for muscle biopsy results now, they should be finished tomorrow. How can these muscle biopsy results help her? Is there any solution for her illness? I cannot imagine that she will stay like this forever.

Muscle biopsy is a standard part of evaluation of someone's myopathy. Actually, I can freely say that it could be the most important part in determining type of muscle disease. It is a method that allows us to exclude certain therapies. For example, it can prove that using steroids and immunosuppressive medications could be dangerous for the patient, so we search for other therapies. Anyway, after this procedure her doctors will know much more about her condition and will be able to help her.
