My good friend has problems with coordination, she feels heaviness in left leg, arms, shoulder, face and other parts too. He has difficulty holding and manipulate with things, the weakness is sometimes accompanied by muscle spasms. They suspect of Guillain –Barre Syndrom…but nothing is sure jet. What can you tell me about symptoms of this syndrome?

The symptoms of Guillain –Barre Syndrom are various from patient to patient .Also the pattern of their appearing vary and distribution. They appear on the both side of the body, left and right, but the may also appear randomly, especially in the beginning. They also varied depending on whether they affected the sensory nerve fibres or motor nerve fibres. The one you described at your friend, she feels heaviness in left leg, arms, shoulder, face, muscle spasms and all sorts of difficulties are sign that motor nerve fibres may be damaged. That is very serious condition, maybe it is not bad idea for him to ask for second opinion.
