my mothers platelets came back today at 50

my mother had a blood transfusion two years ago because of low platelets again today her count was 50.she had a bad nose bleed for 3 hrs she was very pale and not making sense.her legs and feet are a mess swollen and blue.she needs knee surgery but can not have it because she could bleed to death ,she is 68.i have been in touch with her blood doctor and wants to see her next week.what are the signs and should i be taking to the hospital iam worried sick.any help on this would be a great help very concerned daughter patricia caldwell
