Opiates include morpheine, codeine, oxycontin, etc. Opiate withdrawal is caused by stopping or greatly reducing use of an opiate after heavy and prolonged use. When stopped, the body needs to recover and that’s why withdrawal symptoms result. When you discontinue taking a drug that was causing the physical dependence you can feel sweating, anxiety, insomnia, muscle pain, shakiness and abdominal pain. Diarrhea could be a withdrawal symptom of taking oxicontin which is a very powerful drug similar to heroin but it has worse consequences. Being this strong, it is used by terminal cancer patients and chronic pain sufferers. Oxicontin addiction is a physical dependence that is unavoidable when a person is exposed to high doses of the drug for the extended period of time. The other withdrawal symptoms are tiredness, hot and cold sweating, watery eyes, excessive yawning, depression etc.

I am just coming of pain killers for example, loratab 10s. I have all the symptoms that are described. Sweating, shaking, insomnia, anxiety etc.
I have 2 questions

1.) Is there anything that can help me during this process eating or drinking certain things.
2.) when I am trying to sleep I keep jolting and basically wake myself up. Is this normal.

I think the sleeping part and the cold/hot flashes are the worst part. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do other then take a couple days off of work if possible and try to sleep as much as you can for the first couple of days. Things do get better but it takes a few days. Sleeping takes a little longer. If possible try Ambien (very temp.) if you can get it. If not benadryl works for some. The hardest part is not wanting more pain pills as the days go on. Even when you feel better, you tend to remember the good times and forget how you feel now. Good luck and just stick it out. It does get better.
