need help on methadone

Hi, I need help to get off methadone. I have been using heroin for two years, but then I stopped. Now, I am on methadone. How to overcome this situation?

Hi, actually your doctor needs to take care of that by decreasing your dosage. Usually, patients don’t even know that they can become addicted to the medicine. Every addict wants to know how long will it take for him to feel better. Answer to this question is not easy to give, because it’s very individual. the depression last? When do you start feeling better you will not feel sorry for the effort you used. Most patient are facing real depression. It is important to work with your program to attempt an even more gradual taper, and decrease side effects.

I am assuming that you are in the US.

I would definitely tell my MD and inquire about tapering from the Methadone by using Buprenorphine (depending on what dose of Methadone you take (if you know).

or your other choice is to enter treatment at a methadone clinic and be tapered slowly off of Methadone. Unfortunately this taper cannot generally be done by your GP, methadone for addiction can only be dispensed by an Opiate Treatment Program.
