Hi, I have used neurontin for many years, because my back and shoulders caused me a lot of pain. I don’t need it any more, but I’m afraid of withdrawal, because I don’t know how would my body react after all these years. How dangerous can withdrawal be for a fifty years old woman?

Hello, if you are using a large dose, maybe you should cut it down before withdrawal. It is always a big stress to your body when you use a drug for a long time, and then suddenly stop. Neurontin has psychoactive effects, but I don’t think it can cause an addiction. However, you should consult your doctor before doing anything similar, because he will give you a profecional advice. My mother was using some drugs for panic attacs for a long time, and she was increasing the dose so many times, that she became addicted. When she decided to stop using them, a problem appeard! It was too stressful for her body, and she had to be hospitalized. She is now recovered, but who knows what consequences a sudden withdrawal left to her body!
