My brothers friend is going through a family crisis. His sister has just been diagnosed with leukemia and he seems so lost and confused. How she feels I cannot even begin to imagine. Yet, they are already starting with therapies and treatments. Nitrogen mustard has been mentioned as one of the included medicaments. What kind of drug is that?

Nitrogen mustards are cytotoxic agents used in chemotherapy. Event though they are primarily used for dealing with this kind of disease (including Hodgkin disease, lymphosarcoma and other cancers), they can also be used for chemical warfare. Radiomimetic properties in the cytogenetic material are being depleted by the use of this chemical. Also, this therapy is not that commonly used today, but still can be helpful.
