I am in 5 years long relationship. I am so sad and I want to leave himâ€¦we can't communicate anymoreâ€¦like we are talking different languages. I don't even know when it started. When I look back I can't believe how things worked so well for us. Maybe we are just sick of this, but I can't make him to talk with me how he feels about all this.

It is not true that people who love each other automatically communicate well. Good communication does not come naturally; I know I needed more that year of "work" in my relationship to improve that. But somehow I believed that he is right for me, so it wasn't that hard. Communication can be improved by learning and practicing some simple skills such as assertiveness, listening and clarifying to make sure messages are not misunderstood. And naturally open communication between couples is essential.
