Hello! Is there anybody who could recommend me some non- surgical cures for tmj. Thank you!

Hi there! To tell you the truth, any dentist will first recommend conservative and reversible treatments then. Surgery or orthodontics, are only considered if conservative steps have failed to bring lasting relief. Of course, every treatment should be adjusted to individual problems. The goal of TMD treatment is to minimize pain and establish a return to function. I will just count some of the possible treatments: Occlusal Splint, also called a night guard is designed to protect the teeth from further wear. These also will reduce the severity of grinding at night and allow the muscles to rest; Jaw Rest must be performed in order to heal; Pain medication can be prescribed. Often over the counter analgesics such as ibuprofen are enough; Some simple jaw and neck exercises which will help the muscles stretch; Physical therapy to relax the muscles and increase joint flexibility; and stress management.
